Production Process Standard for Plywood

This is standard production in where I work about plywood. The process standards are:

1.Bonding Strength and Delamination

1.a. MC of veneer should be check through by automatic detector MC machine, and if there is no automatic MC Detector machine, check manually every 3 minutes.

1.b.Should have veneer stacking more than 24 hours and veneer temperature below 38 degre celcius.

1.c. Core veneer surface under face can’t have string and gum tape.

1.d. Weight of Glue spread is 40 gram/ft2 up, and can’t use rough-cut veneer.

1.e. Baseboard should be in smooth condition.

1.f. When do lay up, every 15 panels should be put one baseboard and maximum 45 panels in one lot.

1.g. Lay up time maximum 20 minutes.

1.h. Should be used smooth baseboard.

1.i. For bonding test sample, take 1 piece of panel for every shift and if bonding test result was failed, the cargo which sample was failed can’t be loaded.

1.j. Should not use rough veneer, if coming out put it as rejected veneer.

2.Thickness

a)      The thickness shall actually be measured to confirm that it is not less than 12.0 mm anywhere on the panel

b)      Sapwood and heartwood should not use as core veneer

c)       Uneven thickness veneer can not use in SP process

d)      No necessary to sanding if the thickness on standard. If found thickness un-standard (tebal) do sanding once in the back section. Face/back (F/B) thickness after sanding should be up to 1.5 mm

e)      Checking thickness do in 4 (four) corner which using zigzag system and using yoyo (thickness gauge).

3.Warping  and twisting

a)      For FB, should be used same species

b)      Veneer stacking should be more than 24 hours

c)       Hot stacking more than 24 hours.

d)      Warping and twisting accepted maximum 5 mm for width and 15 mm for length side.

       

4.Grading

a)      When grading, do checking thickness one by one from  all SP products.

b)      Do checking blister one by one in both sides of panel by hammer

c)       Do checking delamination one by one by hand (ripping)

d)      Each panel shall be inspected for delamination and panels not perfect shall be removed as defectives

e)      Test of bonding and soak delamination shall conform to JAS standard

f)       One crate should be same species

g)      No any stamp marking for every panel

h)      Beside the above information, follow the Toyo Tex grading rule

5.       Other

a)      Species for SP was Keruing (KR) and Kapur (KP), if have any others species should be inform to Toyo Tex Co., Ltd.

b)      Back joint maximum 3 joints 4 pieces

c)       About core void, should repaired before hot press process and using same veneer thickness and phenol glue

d)      No putty working

e)      Weight of panel should be more than 14.0 kg.
